We professionally digitally edit your images with standard contrast and saturation adjustments, and exposure correction. At the beginning of the month we custom printed some photos a client had taken of her grandson at an aquarium. With Ray's extensive knowledge of underwater photography he expertly adjusted and manipulated the images. The color cast on the image was corrected, color saturation was enhanced, the eye and tusk of the walrus was brought out, and the grandson's features were highlighted. The finishing touch that perfects this image was the cropping and removal of extraneous people that zooms the focus onto her grandson.

Summer is such a perfect time to photograph families! Just a few weeks ago we photographed a local Davis family that had relatives in town for a wedding anniversary and reunion. The client wanted to have the session take place outdoors, and Ray suggested a beautiful location on the outskirts of Davis. The family wanted some fun, creative, and artistic shots, and Ray helped to build upon their vision by suggesting we start photographing on Graffiti Bridge and then moving into a golden field just a little bit down the road.

Ray is experienced at posing large groups and arranging the composition of the photograph. This particular client wanted a mix of traditional posing and photo journalistic shots, both of which Ray is experienced with and possesses a high level of skill. When photographing the couple who were celebrating their anniversary, Ray kept shooting until he captured a loving and tender moment between husband and wife that expressed their long lasting bond.

With the sun setting at the end of the shoot Ray saw the perfect opportunity to photograph the entire family in a relaxed and photo journalistic fashion with the sun setting behind them. He quickly gathered the family in a different section of the field and photographed away while the family wasn't looking.

Last week Ray photographed Judith MacBrine, facilitator, coach, and trainer for The Mirror Group. At her consultation with Ray she told him that she was looking for a head shot that was friendly yet professional, and that allowed her personality to show through. Ray suggested that she wear clothing colors that would complement her logo, since the head shot would be used in conjunction with the logo on her website, in brochures, and in newsletters.
Ray is great at capturing client's personality by putting them at ease. During the shoot Judith was laughing and very relaxed, and as a result all the images that Ray took showed the warmth she wanted.
The resulting image that she chose suits her perfectly, and conveys to prospective clients the exact message she wanted to come across. With our professional retouching we perfected the image, bringing out the sparkle in her eyes, whitening her teeth, removing any stray hairs, smoothing creases in her clothing, and evening out her skin.

Having a baby is one of the most exciting moments of your life. We know that you never want to forget those precious moments of your newborn's life, and we specialize in capturing just that. Our studio works with babies 3 weeks and older, and our photographer Ray Johnston knows just how to position your baby and light him or her to get shots you will love and treasure.

The baby was so relaxed during the session that she fell asleep! Many new parents are worried that their baby might not cooperate or cry or fall asleep during the session and it won't be optimal shooting at such a young age. Let us assure you that that is not the case! We are experts at working around what your baby is doing and gently coaxing him or her to get those perfect shots. We have worked with many families who tell us that they are so glad that they had their baby photographed at a very young age because they change so fast. We agree - within just a few months a baby will act, feel, and look completely different. For this reason we recommend photographing your child at 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year so you have photos of them at every stage of their young life.

This month we worked with Matthias Bretschneider, CEO and International Credential Evaluation Specialist of A2Z Evaluations, LLC, who wanted a photo taken for his company's website. During the consult with Matthias, Ray inquired about his profession and position in the company and how that related to his clients. From this information, Ray stressed the importance of having a professional image for his website that will make clients more confident with the organization that they are doing business with. Ray also looked at the logo and color theme of the website that the image would be on, and suggested that Matthias wear colors similar to those.
As with all our clients, following the shoot Ray reviewed the shots from the session with Matthias, helping him to choose the images that he not only liked the best but that would serve his purposes the best. Matthias settled on one image that he absolutely loved and that showed his personality but was also professional. Ray re-touched this image, using his expert editing techniques to make the client look his absolute best.
