Have a faded, damaged, or incorrectly exposed photograph?  Our studio can professionally restore cherished photographs back to their initial condition or even improve the quality of the original image:

Photo restoration before repair

All photo restoration work is done by hand to a digital scanned image of your photograph using professional photo edition software.  Our professional retouchers can adjust and enhance contrast, sharpness, and color as well as remove scratches, tears, creases, mold or water damage and replace missing areas of an image.  We can also colorize a photograph, commercially retouch faces, and remove or enhance elements in the photography:

Your images are then printed on archival paper, mounted to art board or a canvas stretcher frame with a professional texture, and coated with a protective UV finish designed to last for future generations to enjoy.

Many High School Seniors elect a Custom Photography Session at Ray Johnston Designer Photography.  This way the Senior can be photographed indoors in our state of the art studio and outdoors at the many unique locations here in Northern California. Being a custom photography studio, Ray listens to his clients at a pre-photography consultation and makes his customers' vision into an image they will cherish forever. This senior wanted a pin-up session - to be photographed at the California State Fair in Sacramento with the many carnival lights as a background.  Later she wanted a portrait in our studio taking advantage of the many backgrounds and unique studio lighting.  Ray came up with this faux fur portrait that was printed on a high gloss archival paper.

A Mother's Son Goes to War

Our studio was contacted by a Mother who's son was leaving for Afghanistan.  She wanted a family portrait before her oldest son went to war.  During the family portrait, her loving son reached over and held his mother's arm.  He told her, "I love you" and then turned to the camera and smiled.  This portrait is now proudly displayed in the family's home and it reminds Mom, of this special moment, and how much her son really loves her.  We wish this young soldier a safe and speedy return, and thank him for serving our country.

Contemporary Senior Portraits

Graduation is around the corner and they are about to leave home!  A Senior Portrait that captures the nuances of their personalities and interests with contemporary flair is recommended.  The perfect time to photograph a Senior Portrait is in the spring or summer before the teen is a high school senior.  Also, don't forget to take advantage of their last  moments at home and perhaps what will be your last opportunity to take a family portrait.

Many high school seniors elect to be photographed in the studio and outside on location - the best of both styles of lighting and backgrounds.  At Ray Johnston Designer Photography we offer a Custom Creation which includes both indoor and outdoor settings and multiple clothing changes, giving the Senior a unique style of photography.

Spring colors this year in Northern California are vibrant and wonderful photography sets.  With the warm weather in early February, and now the rain, the foliage is in record bloom.  Spring is one of Ray's favorite times of the year to photograph outdoor portraits.  Call the studio to make a reservation for such a beautiful time of the year to be photographed.

Trumpeter James Simpson came by the studio a couple weeks ago to update his photography portfolio for his upcoming album and tour promotion.  During the photo session, to catch the musician in action, Ray had James play live.  Loud, accurate and full of fire this seasoned jazz veteran shares his passion to album buyers with the dynamic images Ray captured.
